I am missing Bodie and Doyle blowing the bad guys away, checking out every female who passes their way and getting an ear bashing from Cowley every time something goes wrong. Instead we are getting a Top Gear rip off.

I am surprised you are missing them as the show has been repeated on ITV4 so many times it is about time it took a break

No matter how many times ITV 4 repeat the series they never show The Professionals episode - Klansmen.

It needed a break, it has been repeated so many times, it's become boring. ITV 4 need to see what else is available from this era, why not shows like The New Avengers, Danger UXB and London's Burning from later in the eighties.

Amazon Prime Video had the blu-ray HD remasters on there until recently. You won't want to watch on ITV4 after seeing those.

UXB gets a run out occasionally on TPTV.

It's a case of what ITV 4 can buy and what stands up well today, with studio bound programmes from before 1975 looking very cheap now. I was going to suggest Callan, but the studio bound nature of the stories and constant references to the Cold War and defectors would really date it.

Not to mention the fact that a fair number of Callan episodes are filed under “missing believed wiped “....

Plus most shows on ITV 4 are edited to death, so you are missing vital parts of stories. Same as Drama channel

Other suggestions to replace it:- Special Branch (from Series 3 on), The XYY Man and it's two sequels Strangers & Bulman, The Sandbaggers, Thief Takers.

yeah because showing an episode that was never broadcast as part of the series originally, and portrays one of the main characters we're supposed to love as a racist (until the end when he might get a chance of sex with a nice black woman) is a great idea.

The Knock was repeated about 8-10 years ago and was excellent

They were included with Amazon Prime until recently. The restorations looked fantastic.

Any idea why the prints shown on ITV4 looked so bad? Are they not allowed to show the remastered versions?

The restoration cost a lot of money and is owned by a separate company. I would love to see these aired on ITV 1 HD. It would do quite well in the ratings so would get decent advertising revenue to pay for it.

As noted the HD restoration was paid for by Network the company that released the blurays and new DVDs including searching out the original film elements.

Remember The Professionals isn’t owned by ITV they only have TV rights and obviously never asked the rights holder for better TV masters.

I can't imagine ITV1 showing it nowadays without hacking it to bits. It's far too politically incorrect for them.
